FREMANTLE BRIDGE WORKS

Wednesday, February 4, 2026

Dear Valued Client,

As you are aware, the Fremantle Bridge closed on Sunday, 1st February.

Based on notifications and feedback received thus far, traffic disruptions on the first working day following the closure were less severe than initially anticipated.
Early assessments indicate that traffic flows across the surrounding road network were generally smoother than expected.

The Head of Business Operations at FTA provided the following update:
"Softer volumes and adjusted vessel schedules have certainly helped, but this demonstrates the value of proactive industry collaboration. While traffic today was manageable, the Group cautioned that there will be good and bad days ahead, particularly in March, when container transport volumes historically rise by around 25%."

Given this outlook, it is still imperative that you continue to communicate this information to your clients to ensure expectations are managed appropriately and that alternative arrangements can be made where required.
1. Negotiate Extended Free Time

  • Seek an additional 10+ days of free time where possible
  • Request flexibility on delay allowances to mitigate disruption risks

 2. Transition to After-Hours Deliveries
To minimise congestion-related delays, after-hours deliveries will be critical:

  • Evening: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Early Morning: 4:00 AM – 7:00 AM
LMF remains committed to maintaining service reliability during this significant infrastructure project.
Your early action and supporting of after-hours scheduling will be critical in reducing disruption to your supply chain.
